Hi Friends!

Come celebrate with Vida Verde at our benefit on December 6, 2026! Be prepared to truly experience the essence of Vida Verde camps, get out of your comfort zone and try new things. Imagine pine needles underneath your feet, dipping your fingers in a tide pool to catch a hermit crab, belting out campfire songs and possibly kissing a banana slug! Join us for a morning of sharing student experience, enjoying yummy food, story-telling, music, and supporting educational equity in the outdoors.

PURPOSE: To come together to learn, celebrate, and grow the community and funds of Vida Verde
ATTIRE: Casual—come in whatever is most comfortable for you

WHO WE ARE

Vida Verde is a nonprofit that promotes educational equity by providing FREE, overnight environmental learning experiences for students who don't otherwise get the opportunity.

Our programs are 100% funded by grants and individual donations, and the annual benefit brunch helps us raise the funds to keep our programs completely free to students. Only six percent of children from 6 to 13 years old are spending time playing outside each week, and kids from 8 to 18 year olds are using media entertainment an average of over SEVEN hours per day. And, due to circumstances beyond their control, low-income youth of color have much less access to outdoor/natural spaces than their higher-income peers and receive the least amount of environmental education programming. In the Bay Area, many kids of color and students in low-income schools cannot afford the multi-day environmental education programs that:

Combine the incredible benefits of being in nature, being in community, and
Provide the tools, knowledge and context for them to seek nature and community when they return home.

Vida Verde programs work to:

Immerse youth in nature for multiple days so they can experience all the known benefits,
Help them engage in exciting and safe risk-taking that pushes them outside their comfort zones and thus leads to deeper interpersonal connections,
Provide extremely high-quality experiences solely for low-income youth that address the equity gap in immersive outdoor experiences.

CHILDCARE

Vida Verde will provide free excellent childcare onsite during the event (for those toilet-trained or not!). The event is tailored toward adults, and children often find it hard to sit and listen for the entire program. We encourage you to use this great resource.
